Former Sesame Street writer wants kids to learn about gun violence dangers

William Electric Black, an Emmy-winning former writer for Sesame Street, is on a mission to teach kids about the dangers of guns using nursery rhymes, mimes and puppetry. For him, it’s an urgent mission to save lives that he hopes to bring to all New York City schools. Manhattan’s Lower Eastside Girls Club was early to adopt his educational program. It’s part of a growing landscape of children’s media trying to address violence, grief and emotions.
